school holiday photography workshops
Love creative photography? Come along to our June-July 2017 school holiday photography workshops and find out more about the creative aspects of photography (with just enough of the technical to ensure you know how to get the shots you want). You'll also get a print of your best photo of the day.
We're running two workshops, one for phone photographers and one for DSLR photographers.
$95 9.00am-3.00pm pdf notes included
We begin the workshop with a brief (but not boring, we promise!) introduction to the technical side of photography - f-stops, shutter speeds, ISO, metering, colour temperatures and anything else we can squeeze in. You will learn which settings work for which shooting situations, for both phone and DSLR cameras.
Then we cover the artistic side of image-making. We introduce the concepts of perception and sight, composition, story-telling and narrative, and elements of design such as line, colour and balance - with the emphasis on having lots of fun.
The day wraps with an intro to editing and printing and you will leave with a printed copy of your best photo of the day (your choice).
Skill level: suitable for all.
Equipment required: DSLR* or phone camera with basic manual settings.
* Brisbane Camera Hire have generously offered to supply at no charge as many cameras as they can for those children who want to learn DSLR photography but may not own their own camera yet. BCH are an avid supporter of the industry and we thank Susan and the BCH team for their support.
Info for parents: the studio will be open from 8.30am and you are welcome to come in and have a coffee with the fotografica tutors before the day starts. All fotografica tutors are registered Blue Card holders.
We will provide a light morning and afternoon tea, please advise on the booking form if your child is gluten free.

A number of the exercises in this workshop may be held outdoors. Please note that the studio is an air-conditioned all-weather venue so if we are unable to shoot outside we have numerous opportunities to shoot inside.
