street photography

SUNDAY 30 APRIL (long weekend)

If you are interested in exploring Street Photography but are perhaps too shy or nervous, or don't know where to start, this workshop is run at a challenging but fun pace. You learn not only how to see the streets as backdrops for the theatre of life as it unfolds, you'll also learn the technical skills to ensure you capture the moment.

This special event workshop runs during the Stones Corner Festival. The content we cover will be similar to our regular street workshops but tailored to respond to what we find at the festival. We're excited!

Concepts covered:

Where do I start?

There are themes in street photography and you will learn how to train your eye to see them. Once you finish this workshop you will never see the streets in the same way again!

You will also learn the legal and ethical aspects of photographing people and places.

How to photograph people

This is an aspect of street photography that many people struggle with. fotografica tutors have years of experience and have designed unique exercises to help you overcome any shyness or concern you may have taking photos of people on the streets.

Camera settings

Moments on the street unfold quickly and you will learn the technical settings required to capture the action. We'll cover aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and we'll also look at creative interpretations of those settings. There are no rules!

Skill level: this workshop is suitable for photographers who have an understanding of aperture, ISO and shutter speed and know how to change those settings. Whilst it is ideal you are able to shoot in manual mode it is not essential as your tutor will assist you.

Suitable for: DSLR or any digital camera with manual settings. You are welcome to shoot with a phone camera, as a number of our tutors are experience phone photographers, however there are going to be limitations particularly during the evening in low-light. If you're unsure, please contact us and we can discuss further.
